SEMESTER 1 WEEK 1

TITLE: Find the title and advisor for FYP

OBJECTIVE: 
To get the title for the final year project.
To guide student how to make final year project.
To get the information from advisor.

ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION:
In this week, we going the briefing section from lecturer are conduct the registration student for FYP in S2, 2012 at Gemilang Hall on Tuesday 3.00pm until 4.30pm o'clock. The  briefing is about how to log in the RPS, how to register the title on  RPS, what the student must update in RPS. In website RPS, student must download all guideline to do the proposal and logbook/blog and the schedule for submit every assessment. 
 
I went to see Mr. Suhairi Rizuan Bin Che Ahmad after our Power Quality class to ask him to be my supervisor. He agrees to be my supervisor and asked me to come out with a title for my final year project. He gives me time until Friday (20 January 2012). On that Friday, I come out with my title which is 'Design and Fabricate Circuit Driver for 3 Phase Brushless DC Motor'.  We discuss about the title, and he agreed to supervise me on this project. 

This is some introduction my project.

This project will be design the driver system for three phase brushless DC Motor (BLDC). The BLDC is droved to move in rotational motion. The BLDC which is drive is a three phase motor which requires 30V – 100V to operate it.  In a brushless DC motor controller, either a Hall Effect Sensor or Back EMF (Electromotive Force) is used to identify the position of the rotor. The Hall Effect uses three hall sensors within the brushless DC Motor to help detect the position of the rotor. In a brushless DC motor, back EMF is a voltage that occurs where there is motion between the external magnetic field and the armature of the motor.

The advantages of  brushless DC motor is it typically smaller and lighter than the brush DC motor, making it ideal for applications where weight and space are important factors. The brushless DC motor is cleaner, more powerful, and requires lower maintenance than does the brush DC motor. It has higher speed ranges, higher dynamic responses, and ultimately outlasts the brush DC motor in total operating hours.

CONCLUSION: 
From this week, I can conclude that our objective is successful without any trouble. I think the title that I propose is suitable because it can develop further in the use of motor. For week, I will start doing some research and find information for my final year project.
